A 2007 Ferrari F430 Coupe with a prestigious former owner is heading to auction, as the vehicle once belonging to newly inaugurated U.S. President Donald Trump prepares to find a new home. The upcoming sale, managed by Rockstar Car Auctions, will conduct online bidding from February 16 through March 9.
The Italian sports car, maintained in exceptional condition with fewer than 10,000 miles on its odometer, was purchased new by Trump during the sixth season of his television show “The Apprentice.” The vehicle comes complete with authentic documentation, including the original title bearing Trump’s signature and a warranty card issued in his name.
Currently owned by a private collector in New Jersey, the Ferrari boasts impressive specifications, including a 4.3-liter V8 engine capable of generating 483 horsepower and achieving speeds up to 196 mph. The vehicle showcases the classic Ferrari aesthetic with its Rosso Corsa red exterior complemented by a beige leather interior.
Starting bids begin at $250,000, with industry experts projecting final sale prices potentially reaching between $750,000 and $1 million. The auction house has previous experience with celebrity vehicle sales, including the successful auction of Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer’s 2006 Nissan 350Z for $58,000 and a Mercedes 1987 560SL formerly owned by Ivana Trump for $25,000.
Tony Rienzi, auctioneer at Rockstar Car Auctions, noted that Trump’s return to the presidency has enhanced the collectibility of his personal items. This observation is supported by recent market activity, as evidenced by the sale of Trump’s 1997 Lamborghini Diablo VT roadster last year for $1.1 million – significantly exceeding the typical auction range of $350,000 to $500,000 for similar models.
Commenting on the phenomenon of celebrity car valuations, auctioneer Jim Ronan explained to The Telegraph that famous ownership
significantly increases a vehicle’s value, particularly in the classic car market, where ownership history becomes a compelling talking point among enthusiasts.
David Schmid, associate professor of English at the University at Buffalo College of Arts and Sciences, provided cultural context for the auction’s significance. He explained that Trump’s unique position as both reality TV star and political figure has created an
unprecedented level of iconic status, making his possessions particularly valuable to collectors.
Schmid elaborated that the Ferrari represents more than just a luxury vehicle; it serves as a tangible connection to Trump’s public persona and the values he represents to his supporters – including ambition, wealth pursuit, and individualism. The professor suggested that purchasing such an item allows buyers to acquire a piece of Trump’s celebrity status, with the Ferrari specifically embodying key elements of the Trump brand: luxury, conspicuous consumption, and masculine appeal.
