Disney Cruise Line is expanding its fleet and experiences
significantly, with multiple new ships and character additions planned for 2025. Following the recent maiden voyage of the Disney Treasure from Port Canaveral, Florida on December 21, the company has unveiled ambitious plans for further growth in the cruise industry.
The Disney Destiny will make its debut from Fort Lauderdale, Florida in November 2025, featuring a unique heroes and villains theme. Passengers can look forward to a new family dinner show inspired by “The Lion King” and the first-ever Disney cruise lounge themed after Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange.” The ship will also incorporate venues celebrating Cruella de Vil and Pirates of the Caribbean, with Spider-Man and his Spider-Bots adorning the stern as its signature decoration.
In a significant move to enter the Asian market, Disney Cruise Line will launch the Disney Adventure from Singapore in December 2025. This vessel is being designed as the company’s most theme park-oriented ship to date, featuring seven distinct themed areas celebrating Disney, Pixar, and Marvel properties. The ship will introduce Marvel Landing, an adventure zone featuring three new attractions, including Ironcycle Test Run – the longest rollercoaster at sea and the cruise line’s first such attraction.
The entertainment offerings are expanding with new character experiences as well. Starting January 2025, passengers on Australian and New Zealand cruises will be the first to meet Bluey and Bingo, the popular characters from 2024’s most-watched Disney+ series. These encounters will include special meet-and-greets and an interactive game culminating in a dance party featuring Bluey’s signature moves.
Marvel’s Deadpool, fresh from his box office success with Wolverine in 2024, will make his first appearance on Disney Cruise Line aboard the Disney Adventure. He’ll be featured in the ship’s signature show, Avengers Assemble!, performing alongside other Marvel heroes and villains including Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, and Black Panther in a spectacular production featuring stunts and special effects.
This expansion represents a significant step in Disney Cruise Line’s strategy to strengthen its position in family cruising, with plans to more than double its fleet by 2031. The Disney Treasure is currently operating seven-night Caribbean sailings, immersing guests in storylines from various Disney properties including “Haunted Mansion,” “Moana,” and “Coco.”
These developments showcase Disney’s commitment to bringing innovative experiences to the cruise industry, combining traditional cruise elements with the company’s signature storytelling and entertainment. The expansion into Asia with the Disney Adventure represents a strategic move to capture new markets, while the addition of popular characters like Bluey and Deadpool demonstrates the company’s ability to integrate current entertainment trends into its cruise offerings.
The different themes and experiences across these new ships indicate Disney’s strategy to create distinct identities for each vessel while maintaining the brand’s core focus on family entertainment. From the heroes and villains theme of the Disney Destiny to the theme park-style attractions on the Disney Adventure, each ship offers unique experiences while maintaining Disney’s signature attention to detail and storytelling.
